Set custom TTL for specific DM assets
This article explains how to set a custom TTL (Time-to-Live) for specific assets in Dynamic Media Classic. Rather than relying on a single default TTL for all assets, you can assign unique expiration periods to selected assets.
Description description
Environment
Dynamic Media Classic (DMC)
Issue/Symptoms
By default, all assets in Dynamic Media Classic share a standard TTL. However, certain assets may require a unique TTL for specific use cases.
Resolution resolution
- In DMC, go to Menu Setup
>Application Setup>Metadata>User Defined Fields. Add a field named expiration for all assets, set the type to String, leave Default Value blank, and mark it Active. - Browse and select the asset for which you want to modify the default TTL.
- In the Metadata tab, fill out the expiration field with the TTL in hours (e.g., 168 for 1 week).
- In the browser, verify the asset URL with the developer toolbar on the *Network *tab and confirm the expiration time of the asset is set to the correct number of hours in the future.
