Sample profiles aren’t visible despite getting ‘Qualified Audience size’ on a segment

This article discusses the Adobe Experience Platform issue where you see a segment populating but do not see sample profiles on the segment page.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
  • Real-Time Customer Data Platform

Issue

Sample profiles are not visible despite ‘Qualified Audience size’ showing a population in Adobe Experience Platform.

The ‘Qualified Audience Size’ displayed at the top of the screenshot is based on daily segment and export jobs. In contrast, the sample profiles rely on the sample job, which is a different process that doesn’t trigger as frequently as segment evaluations.

Resolution resolution

As seen in the Preview sample status product page:

How the sample job is triggeredAs data enabled for Real-Time Customer Profile is ingested into Platform, it is stored within the Profile data store. When the ingestion of records into the Profile store increases or decreases the total profile count by more than 5%, a sampling job is triggered to update the count.

This is more likely to happen in Development sandboxes where you may not have as much data, it might be that the sample size is too small to display anything.

If this occurs in Production, you may want to verify the last sample date for the job by doing the following:

  1. Go into the EDIT mode for the audience.
  2. Open your Developer Tools (View > Developer > Developer Tools) and go to the Network tab.
  3. Refresh your page.
  4. Look for the a previewsamplestatus? call and check the response.
You should be able to see the lastSampledTimestamp (see screenshot).

If there is an issue, raise a Support case in Experience League so we can verify in our admin tools and trigger a fresh sample job if needed.
