Schema update access error in Adobe Experience Platform

This article talks about how to resolve the XDM Schema update is not allowed error in Adobe Experience Platform.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)

Issue

You’re trying to update a schema, but get an error message in the UI similar to this:

The Schema (https://ns.adobe.com/tenantName/schemas/schemaID) update is not allowed because the user does not have access to all fields.

Resolution resolution

There are labels applied on the fields, and you don’t have access to the label.

These fields are hidden for you, or some operations might not be possible without the necessary access.

When on the schema page, click the Labels tab to see what labels have been used to restrict access to some of the fields in that schema.

An AEP administrator can then go into the Permissions section, search for the user in question, and make sure the same labels are applied to the role assigned to that username.

Attribute-based access control isn’t to be confused with Experience Platform’s data governance capabilities, which allow you to use labels and policies to control how data is used in the Platform rather than which users in your organization have access to it.

This relates to the documentation on access control, where you can find more details.
