ACS: Unable to connect to Adobe SFTP using file transfer activity

If in Adobe Campaign Standard, you see the issue where you are unable to connect to Adobe SFTP when using a file transfer/download activity, change ownership of chroot directory /sftp/xxxxxxxx to be under root ownership.

Issue/Symptoms

How to troubleshoot the ACS issue when you are unable to connect to Adobe SFTP when using a file transfer/download activity.

When you are unable to connect to Adobe SFTP and all workflows that are using a file transfer/download activity also fail with below error:

fileTransfer3           CRL-290003 Upload error in cURL

fileTransfer3           Failed initialization

The SFTP connection log will show this error:

sshd[ xxxx] : fatal: bad ownership or modes for chroot directory "/sftp/xxxxxx"

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a workflow using the file transfer/download activity.
  2. Run the workflow.
  3. The workflow fails at the step related to the file transfer/download activity and returns the error.

Resolution resolution

Change the ownership of the chroot directory /sftp/xxxxxxxx to be under root ownership instead.

Cause

The wrong ownership of the chroot directory /sftp/xxxxxxxx.
