Understanding the changes in Adobe Experience Platform tags embed code with HTTPS
Last update: January 28, 2025
This article explains whether it’s necessary to update the embed code for Adobe Experience Platform Data Collection (Tags) when the script source changes from "//assets.adobedtm.com/xxxx"
to "https://assets.adobedtm.com/xxxx"
.
Description
Environment
Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
Issue
The embed code format for Adobe Experience Platform Tags has changed:
- Original format:
`<` script src="//assets.adobedtm.com/xxxx"`>` `<` /script`>`
- Updated format:
`<` script src="https://assets.adobedtm.com/xxxx"`>` `<` /script`>`
Resolution
There is no need to replace the existing embed code. The content served by both formats—whether with or without https://
—is identical. The addition of https://
ensures compatibility with secure (HTTPS) connections and modern browser standards, but it doesn’t alter the functionality or the script content itself.
