Mobile Push messages in report after Push scheduled time

This article addresses the Adobe Analytics issue where push messages are shown in reports outside of their scheduled times. This occurs because the Users that Opened Push  report logs hits based on when users open the push notification on their devices, which can be delayed due to individual device settings.

Issue/Symptoms

Sometimes, push messages are shown in reports outside of the schedule of Push Messages. For example, a push was scheduled for 09/25/2020, however, reports reflect push message instances on 10/20/2020.

Resolution resolution

The Users that Opened Push report shows hits for when a user opens the push notification on their phone based on their device settings. Most users open the notification immediately (assuming they open it at all), but some will delay opening the notification. The latter could be days later and that’s when the hits are sent.

The data on this report is in-line with the assumption that the majority of users open the message on the day it is sent with a small percentage opening it at a later date.
