Hi, this is Russell with Adobe. The Cloud Automation Patching Service, also referred to as CAPS, is a service that helps Adobe Commerce Cloud customers easily discover and apply security patches using a single streamlined workflow.

CAPS is a tool that makes patching seamless and easy for customers by helping them stay secure and up-to-date with minimal effort. This service is part of the Adobe Commerce Site-wide Analysis tool.

To get here, you’re going to go to your Commerce Admin and use the SWOT link under Reports and then System Insights.

Once you’re logged into the SWOT dashboard, you should see a tab for Patching Automation, and this is going to be on the top right-hand corner. Now all you have to do is click on that link.

In the Project dropdown, this shows a list of all of the available projects, and then in the Project one, the Environment dropdown gets populated. All you need to do at this point is choose a project and then select the corresponding environment.

Once you select the environment, the tool is going to detect which version of Adobe Commerce it’s using. And for this example, it’s on 2.4.7.p1.

And then the tool is going to list all of the patches that are available for this environment. These are sorted by release date.

Looking at these available ones, the first one that we see was released on September 9th. And we also note that we provide articles and some useful information for each of these to help you know if it’s appropriate.

To apply a patch, click on the button that says Apply. Clicking this is going to start the process of the patch application on this environment. This process can take some time, so expect it to maybe take 20 to 30 minutes to complete. There are status updates and progress updates, and they’re highlighted here, and they’re shown for each stage.

Checking back after some 20 minutes, we see the new status of the patch. It completed successfully.

At this phase, the button’s going to change from Apply to Completed. And then a new button’s going to appear. Revert gets displayed. For patches that have been reverted using this tool, a message reading Revert Completed is shown, and then an Apply button will now show. This way you can reapply it if necessary. Well that’s it for this session on the Cloud Automated Patching service found in the Site-Wide Analysis tool. Please come back to Experience League to learn more about Adobe Commerce as well as all of the other Adobe products.
