Key takeaways

In this module, you:

  • Carousels, tabs, and accordions are all "special containers" that share the same underlying model. Each one has one or more panels, and each panel can contain one or more components. Which components can be added to a panel is controlled by the template's content policies, just like any other container. The difference between them is only in how they present and allow visitors to navigate between panels.
  • The panel switcher tool exists because normal interaction is disabled in edit mode. When editing a carousel or tabs component, you can't just click a tab or arrow to switch panels — those gestures are reserved for visitor interaction. The panel switcher in the component toolbar provides a way to navigate between panels and even reorder them while staying in edit mode.
  • "Copy and paste" and "move and rename" produce different results. Copy and paste creates an independent duplicate at a new location while leaving the original page exactly where it is (you can provide a new name during the paste). Move and rename relocates the original page — changing both the title and the URL name in the same operation — without leaving a copy behind.
  • Three page properties control how a page appears in site navigation. The navigation title lets you set a shorter or different display label for use in menus without changing the main page title. Hide in navigation removes the page from navigation menus while keeping it fully accessible and editable. The redirect setting (found in the Advanced tab) automatically sends visitors who land on that URL to a different destination page.
  • Manage Publication gives you much finer control than Quick Publish. It lets you publish or unpublish many pages at once, schedule publication for a specific future date and time, and manually add or remove individual pages from the publication list. When including child pages, you can filter by three criteria: immediate children only, modified pages only, or already-published pages only — giving you precise control over exactly what goes live.
