Customize the Main Menu with layout templates

Hey everyone, in this video, we’re going to show you how to hide and show options in the main menu in Workfront. Each organization uses Workfront differently. Some use Workfront strictly for their intake process, while others use the full suite of tools. Whatever stage you’re at, you need to make sure that the tools everyone uses displays in this main menu. You can customize the main menu through a layout template. You can start by creating a brand new template or editing an existing template. In this case, we’re going to use the marketing content team layout to make those changes. I’m going to click the marketing content team layout, and that will bring up our creation screen. To make changes to the main menu, we’re going to click set up main menu here on the top right. This is going to show us everything that is currently showing in the main menu. Now if we want to remove any of the areas that we don’t need, we’re simply going to click the little x here to the top right of each of these items. Let’s just say for the content marketing team, they don’t need to keep track of time, they’re not going to be doing any resourcing, and let’s just say they’re not going to use calendars. So here, I’m going to remove calendars by clicking that little x. I’m going to remove timesheets, and I’m going to remove resourcing. You’ll notice that each time I click that x, it moves to this bottom section called available items. That’s because if I remove any items, let’s say by accident or just for now, but want to add them back later, I can do that. So if I want to add timesheets back to the main menu, I can click this plus sign, and it’ll put those timesheets back up to the active items, or the items that will show in the main menu for our users. So I’m going to remove the timesheets once again, move it back to our available items, and at this point I can go ahead and hit done. And once I save that layout template, that menu should then take effect. So that’s all we need to do to remove items from our main menu.
