Hello. In this video, we’ll be walking through the URL rewrites feature in Adobe Commerce. URL rewrites can be used to add high value keywords to improve the way your product is indexed by search engines. You can also use rewrites to create additional URLs for temporary seasonal changes in your store. This configuration is available under Marketing, SEO & Search, and URL Rewrites. This page displays URL rewrites that are already configured for your store. Let’s go ahead and click the Add URL Rewrite button on the top right of the page.
The tool can be used to create product, category, or custom rewrites for any page in your store. In this example, let’s go ahead and create a custom URL rewrite.
If you have multiple stores, select the store where the rewrite applies.
In the Request Path field, enter the URL key and path of the page to be redirected. The request path must be unique to the specified store. If there’s already a redirect that uses the same request path, you will receive an error when you try to save, and the previous redirect must be deleted before you can create the new one. In our example, we’ll create a request path for a blue backpack. In the Target Path field, enter the internal path that is used by the system to point to the destination. Let’s add an internal system path here.
Next, we’ll select if the rewrite is temporary or permanent. Search engines generally do not retain page rank information for temporary rewrites. Let’s say this rewrite is temporary.
And finally, we’ll add a description. Our rewrite is for a back to school seasonal sale.
Let’s go ahead and save our changes, and the rewrite goes into effect. And any existing links that point to the previous URL are now seamlessly directed to the new URL. Thank you for your time. More information is available on the Adobe Experience League. -
