Create Product Attributes
Adobe Commerce uses attributes to manage the information associated with products, customers, and product ratings. Attributes are pieces of information that might appear as fields in forms, reports, product reviews, layered navigation, and email messages. They are the building blocks of your product catalog, and describe specific characteristics of a product.

Hello everyone. In this video we will be going through the Adobe commerce product attributes out of the box capabilities. Product attributes as a builtin box of Adobe commerce product catalog. They describe specific characteristic of a product. Such as color size, weeds, hate, et cetera. Generally speaking, any information that makes the product unique can be displayed using product attributes. So let’s start with overview of the product attributes section, go to stores.
Attributes. Product. Once on the product attributes page, you are able to manage any predefining system attributes and create or edit any customers. Let’s start from adding a new product attribute. When creating a product attribute, there are three attribute information sections we have to fill in details for in order to define how an attribute can be used in catalog. And keep in mind its appearance and behavior in the store. Say general properties, labels, and storefront properties. So, let’s create a new attribute by using an example. Imagine I am sending electronic watches in my store, and I want my customers to be able to filter products by fitness striking features supported by the watches. In the default label in the device attribute into admin and the storefront. Let it be fitness tracker feature, for example.
Input type, the remote type of data can be entered in the format of the field. The virus input types available in Adobe commerce such as text field, text area, text editor, date, Yes/no, or multiple select, dropdown, multiple select image, and even page builder. For the purpose of our example let’s pick multiple select input type.
Once type is selected, we can start adding two to twelve options.
In our example, they could be heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, hydration tracking, oxygen levels tracking, tracking calories, et cetera. You can use advanced attribute properties, in order to D remind attribute behavior in the store, more precisely. For our example, we will be using default values. Let’s go to the storefront attribute properties and fill in all the details.
If you want your customers to be able to search products by using the attribute values, then set using search to yes.
Also your selected attribute can be used for advanced search and for comparison of products on storefront.
If you want your customers to be able to filter products on storefront by the attribute values, then select layered navigation to filter both these results.
Once all the storefront properties are filled in we can save the attribute. You can see the newly created attribute in the product attributes screen.
Now, when we can create a new attribute, we need to add it to an attribute set let’s navigate to stores.
Attributes. Attribute set. In attribute sets, just the list of product attributes group together in order to be used as the place for the products.
In our example, I already have electronic watch attribute set and now I just want to add a new product characteristic to system plate.
In the group three, we can see the list of all the product attributes currently assigned to the electronic watch set.
In order to add a new attribute to the list let’s find previously created attribute in the unassigned list, and track and drop it to the group tree.
Here we go.
Now we can save the attribute. Once we edit a new attribute to the electronic watch attribute set. It’ll be available for all the products in the catalog created by using this template. Let’s see how our new attribute can be configured for such products. Let’s navigate the catalog products and search for watches.
Here we go. Let’s pick one. Electronic watch for editing.
Here’s a new fitness tracker, multiple select field since it is not a required attribute, we can leave the attribute value unselected. Which means, there is not any fitness tracking features supported by this product, or we can select some of them or all of them.
Once product is saved, the changes will be available for the store customers on the storefront.
Let’s see how a new fitness tracking feature attribute can help our customers to search for products they need. Let’s open our storefront. Imagine I am a customer who is looking for a new iconic watch, which can measure my heart rate. I navigate to watch category, and there is a new fitness tracker feature filter option available for me.
As you can see, by using this filter I am now able to select all the watches supporting the heart rate and monitor function. -
