Welcome to Adobe Campaign! In this video, you will learn how to create a multilingual newsletter using conditional content. Using Adobe Campaign, we can configure conditional content fields to create complex personalization such as replacing a text box or images in a delivery when a particular condition is satisfied. For example, we can replace Mr., Mrs., and other pronouns according to the value of the gender field in our campaign database. Additionally, we can also personalize the assembly of a newsletter or promotional offers according to the interests indicated. In this example, we will cater to our recipient’s different language preferences and translate the email accordingly. Let’s start by opening the Source tab of a personalization block. We already have a link to the Adobe Campaign Help page in English. Below the first link in the HTML Content tab, we want to add a new hyperlink for French content. Looking at the link, we can see that the recipient who prefers French as their primary language will be sent the French Help page for Adobe Campaign. Next, we need to add the condition. Start by selecting the personalization field, hover over the conditional context menu, and select If. A conditional statement is populated. For our use case, we are looking to see if the recipient’s language preferences are equal to the French value. By default, we will send the English content. Start by highlighting the field selection and selecting the personalized field icon again. Hover over recipient and select Other. The available field selection popover appears. Within this window, select the language field followed by selecting OK. The highlighted field syntax is replaced with the recipient’s language. Next, we need to replace the value syntax. In this use case, we already know the possible language field values. Replace the value syntax with the French value using single quotations. Lastly, we need to insert our content for when the statement conditions are met. Replace the Insert Content Here text with the French link we made earlier. Now, if the recipient’s language is set to French, the French link will appear. However, we still need to make the default English. For the last curly bracket, select the personalization field icon, hover over the conditional content menu and select Else. The conditional statement boilerplate is added. Because this is our default, we do not need to indicate a value like we did in the if statement. Any other value can simply be our English link. All we have to do is replace the English content with the Insert Content Here line. Once complete, we can select the HTML tab at the bottom left to view our code. We should also go back to our delivery template to preview the email rendering based on our recipient language. To test our template, we need to preview it with a French recipient. If we were unsure or could not find an available recipient, we can select the test personalization followed by selecting recipient from the drop down menu. The Select a recipient popover list should populate with available recipients for preview. If we did not have the language column, we could right click and select Configure list, then add the language column from the available fields to our output columns by double clicking it and selecting OK. After selecting a French recipient, we can see that the content located at the bottom of our preview is set to French now. Using conditional content, we could alter our delivery template for multiple languages without the need to create individual templates for every language. You should now have the knowledge and skills to create your own personalized templates using conditional content. Thanks for watching.
