Defining Interactive Email Content with AMP

AMP for Email is a new open-source format that enables developers to create dynamic and interactive emails. With modern app functionality directly available within emails, recipients can interact dynamically with content in the message itself.

Currently only Gmail, Yahoo, FairEmail, and Mail.ru support the AMP format.

The video below explains how to activate AMP in Adobe Campaign Classic and showcases the usage.

In this video you will learn how to apply the AMP format to emails in Adobe Campaign Classic. AMP is a web component framework developed by Google. Campaign Classic offers this format in addition to HTML and text format for email deliveries. Emails written with AMP can contain interactive elements such as accordions or product listings that stay up to date. In this case if you change the price in Campaign it will be reflected in the email in the recipient’s inbox. You can add image carousels, and even forms to the email which the recipient can directly interact with. In this example the customer can subscribe to a newsletter, answer a survey directly from the email, or they can let us know what they’re interested in without having to navigate away from the email itself. To activate AMP, you first need to import the package. Go to Tools, Advanced, Import package. Select the standard package. Then scroll down until you find the AMP support package. Select it, click Next, and then start to install it. You can check if the installation was successful by navigating to the monitor.
You can see here that the package is now available. So let’s go ahead and create a delivery.
So I’ll go to deliveries and create a new delivery.
You can see that next to the HTML content tab a new AMP content tab is now available.
Campaign does not offer an AMP editor. So we recommend to create the AMP content in the native AMP editor which you can find under playground.amp.dev. Once you’re in the AMP editor, make sure to select AMP for email from the left drop-down. You can then choose from a variety of templates.
I will choose the Hello World template.
You can see here that it has an embedded carousel. I will copy and paste the code to Campaign.
I can now apply personalization. I’ll add a personalization field, the first name to the subject line.
Now let’s send the delivery and see what the email will look like in my inbox.
The AMP version of the message is embedded into the email as a new MIME part in addition to the HTML and plain text ensuring compatibility across all mail clients. Currently AMP is supported by Gmail. So we’ll take a look at what the email looks like in a Gmail inbox. So here you can see our customer Thomas, he has received our email, and if I scroll down you can see that the carousel displays very nicely and is interactive within the email itself.
Thank you for watching.

You can use the AMP editor to create your own AMP code.

Please see the product documentation for more information.
