What is the Resource Planner? The Resource Planner is a tool to forecast and budget resource needs for the work planned to be completed. It’s a way for you to see demand versus capacity of your resources. So when leadership wants to know if the plan for the quarter or even the year is feasible with the personnel they have, Workfront’s Resource Planner allows you to do basic capacity planning. The main purpose of this tool is to see, not to adjust, so you can plan your people resources ahead of time based on current and future projects. The only number that can be adjusted is the resource budget when viewing resources by project. The Resource Planner is really a maturity level stage 3 or 4 tool because it is the most beneficial when projects are planned in advance with desired resource needs and time frames. For more information on resource maturity, see the Resource Maturity and Settings learning path. Workfront’s Resource Planning tool makes planning for and eventually allocating resources to your top priorities much easier.
